12 Weeks of Homemade Christmas…Apple Crisp…

Written by Dawn.

If you all spent a few hours at the apple orchard this fall like we did, you are probably wondering what to do with all of those apples you have picked.  Well, I have the perfect solution…Homemade Apple Crisp.

This is perfect for either (or both) a Thanksgiving or Christmas dessert. And will make use off all those apples!

What you will need (according to AllRecipes.com :

  • 10 cups all-purpose apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Or just memorize this picture…

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Peel all your apples.  I just guessed on the 10 cups, peeling enough to fill up the a 9×13 glass dish…

Slice all the apples.  I prefer very thin slices, but this is completely a personal preference…

Place the apples in the 9×13 dish.  Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together.  Sprinkle the mixture over the apples.

Pour the water evenly over all of it.

Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together.

You can even grab a helper with this if you’d like…

But, that might give you just a slightly bigger mess to clean up!

Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 45 minutes.

Serve with ice cream…and enjoy!!

The perfect Christmas (or Thanksgiving) Dessert!!! And a great use for all those apples!
